Compare 11 sites for Amsterdam, Netherlands: holiday flats, aparthotels and serviced apartments by the night.

Renting a flat in Amsterdam

Amsterdam's canal-ring apartments are famous but small, with steep staircases. Supply is tight, so book early, and consider neighbourhoods just outside the ring where trams and bikes still get you to the centre in minutes.

Areas to look at

  • Jordaan: canals, boutiques and cafés
  • De Pijp: markets and a lively food scene
  • Oud-West: residential, near the Vondelpark
  • Amsterdam-Noord: a ferry ride away, creative and roomier

Local rules

Hosts can let a whole home to tourists for at most 30 nights a year, must register with the city and must report each stay.

  • Holiday rental in Amsterdam is limited to the host's main residence with a permit, registration number and notification of each stay; usually up to 30 nights a year, cut to 15 nights in eight designated neighbourhoods from 1 April 2026, and banned outright in some areas. (source, 2026-09)
