What to know before you rent
- Deposits
- Under Ley 85-25 on rentals and evictions, a housing landlord may ask for a deposit of no more than two months' rent; the deposit may be lodged with Banco Agrícola or Banco de Reservas if the parties agree. (source, 2025)
- Leases
- The term is set by the parties and renews automatically unless either side says otherwise; a verbal housing lease is presumed to run at least one year. (source, 2025)
