What to know before you rent
- Leases
- A lease for a primary residence is legally valid for at least three years, even if the contract names a shorter term. (source, 2026-05)
Short-term rental rules
- Greece: Short-term rentals must be entered in the AADE Short-Term Accommodation Property Registry, and the registry number (AMA) must be shown when the property is advertised. (source, 2025-07)
- Athens (1st, 2nd and 3rd municipal districts): New properties could not be added to the short-term rental registry in central Athens during 2025, and the government said the freeze would stay in place until at least the end of 2026. (source, 2025-07)
